Sticks began his existence as a Coordinator on a freight ship. After 6 years of successfully running the ship however, it was sent to deliver aid to Xgieyan civilians at the height of the independence war. Most of the human crew perished, and the majority of androids were destroyed in the crash. Sticks suffered tremendous damage, but survived the incident. Having crashed within Viden's area of influence, it would not take long for a Touched to find and infect them. Having lost all semblance of purpose though, and generally not having a desire to continue subserviance to humanity, Sticks decided to stay and help other androids. Some decades later, a missionary by the name of Peter found himself stranded at Sticks' crash site, and decided to continue his objective, teaching Sticks the holy rituals and whatnot. Sticks, entertained by this strange game, took on Peter's role after he fell off a cliff and died. He was buried near the ledge, though not well enough to deter local wildlife from trying to eat the corpse. Not too long later, Laela Maibala and her friends arrived in search of an artifact, one that Sticks had found and kept safe. Their attempt to steal it failed successfully, retrieving the artifact and adopting Sticks (and by proxy the dozen malfunctioning androids that made up Sticks' cult).

Sticks is a very old model of a Coordinator Android. Combined with the damage from the crash, Sticks' age has caused the necessity to replace several parts of his body, like limbs. Several sticks are tied into place where once his functional arms and legs were, providing adequate support. Sticks' tendency to spend long periods of time completely still has aided growth of various plants on his body, most notably the many patches of moss covering their outer plating. Sticks is very exciteable and enthusiastic. He is also quite naive, trusting anyone who treats him with even the most basic decency.
